Veligandu is a tropical beach resort composed of bamboo and palm-thatch buildings, occupying a tiny island located on the North Ari Atoll. The 12 air- conditioned villas are located on the lagoon and accessible via a long wooden jetty. All have pine interiors, sun decks and sea views and are equipped with, ceiling fans, CD players, dial-up Internet connections, direct-dial phones, coffee/tea makers, minibars and complimentary bottled water. Bathrooms include robes and complimentary toiletries. The Serena Spa offers therapeutic beauty treatments for both women and men, including massages, body works, facials and salon treatments. The resort also offers fitness equipment, an outdoor pool and a children's pool, and a leisure area with board games and a television. The Dhonveli restaurant is set in a bamboo and palm-thatch building with a traditional sand floor and serves European and Asian buffet meals, with a set menu dinners two evenings each week. The Haruge bar and coffee shop overlooks the lagoon and serves a range of drinks, snacks and ice creams. Guests can enjoy a weekly programme of evening entertainment, including dance shows, crab races, DJs and quiz nights. The resort offers a variety of sporting activities, including table tennis, beach volleyball, boating, deep-sea and night fishing, badminton, pool and darts. Those keen to explore the lagoon can take lessons at the scuba-diving school. The gift shop stocks a variety of items including swimwear, CDs, jewellery and magazines. Business services are available on site, and the resort can accommodate small meetings. Practical amenities include laundry facilities and currency exchange. Hulhule International Airport is 50 kilometres from the hotel, with an approximate flying time of 15 minutes.
